Police identify McCallum HS student arrested for allegedly bringing gun to school

A McCallum High School student was arrested for allegedly bringing a handgun to school on Wednesday, according to a letter sent to parents by the school principal.

In an affidavit, police identified the accused as Kevon Walton, 17. About 5 minutes later, idemperor.com school officers found Walton outside of the McCallum field house. When officers patted him down, they found a small black 2.5 caliber pistol in a brown leather holster tucked into his waistband, according to the affidavit.

The gun was not loaded and the student did not threaten anyone, the letter said.
