Bar owner defends security staff

ALBANY The owner of a downtown Albany bar that was raided early Friday and was found to have served alcohol to minors said his security staff effectively screens most patrons and could not reasonably be expected to detect every convincing fake ID.

“The police had to bring DMV specialists in” to ferret out the fake IDs “so what do they expect from us?” said Friday afternoon. “If you have 236 people in the place and only eight of them have fake IDs, I think that’s pretty good; I know it’s better than almost any bar in town.”
